Alchemy help UNITE with their portal business case

Alchemy have been advising UNITE plc on the business case for their Portal Programme. Unite, who build, manage and rent student residential accommodation in the UK, are a fast-growing FTSE-250 company and are keen to build an Intranet Portal which will underpin that growth and properly support their valued workforce.

UNITE’s intranet was developed in 2001 to provide a largely static repository of useful information, which could be easily accessed through a PC browser across the organisation.  Although a number of useful, dynamic tools were added tactically over the years, large areas of the intranet had become stale and disused, as those with responsibility for updating content had moved on within or outside the company.

UNITE had since transformed dramatically in terms of size, structure, people and processes, placing an increasing reliance upon technology and systems.  The current intranet no longer meets UNITE’s requirements for a modern, effective employee platform and Alchemy have been engaged to build the strategy and business case for a portal-based replacement.
