Designing a portal that fits your culture
A Portal is much more than a simple business tool. It is also the biggest investment you can make in your people and your internal cultural identity & branding. Your portal could say "One Company; One Place to Go; and One Way of Working". It should feel like home!
We can help you find the right branding, messages, name and navigation. Intranet Portal Design Services include: - Branding & naming your Intranet
The key to successful intranet branding is a marriage of two ingredients; what has made your organisation successful in the past and what needs to change to make you more successful in the future. Ignoring either leads to a site that doesn't "feel like home". We use a variety of innovative creative techniques to tease out the right branding for you from stakeholders and focus groups. We also take into account your existing external branding and internal communications channels (including email, newsletters, staff newspapers, posters and more).
- Building key themes and messages
You may have some very clear ideas about what you want to achieve from your Portal (your "proposition"). But how to communicate these to people across the organisation? We help you identify the 3-4 key themes for your intranet (e.g. working together, serving customers, consistent processes and one company). We then help you develop messages which you can reinforce through all your internal communication channels; building user recognition, acceptance and, ultimately, adoption of the new Portal.
- The Creative Brief & Constructors Handbook
We help you to develop a style and tone of voice for your Portal, which builds on your branding and key themes. This is encapsulated in Writing for the Web Guidelines (for your content editors). We also create bold and innovative designs which will attract and retain your discerning users! These are brought to life through a Creative Brief. The detail is not neglected, with a Constructors Handbook provding detailed instructions for development (covering Colour Pallette, Style Sheets, Font Style & Pitch and more).
- Taxonomy & Information Architecture Design
We can facilitate workshops with your users (as "consumers of information") to establish what they call things and where they expect to find them. If you are desparate to get away from an intranet organised solely by departments (with key information hidden deep in your site) then you have come to the right place! We won't blind people with information science or bore them with jargon - but we will help you get the right wireframes and navigation for your site. Usability is key to user adoption and to getting the full delta benefit from your portal investment.
